Airport
The Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce knows that to continue as a truly international city, Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport must be able to continue to offer effective and efficient service.
Already the busiest airport in the world, Hartsfield is undergoing a multi-billion dollar construction program, which the Chamber supports. The Metro Chamber will continue to monitor the progress of the current construction and work toward further improvements for the future as the Atlanta region continues to grow.

Georgia Rail
The Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce is working hard to ensure that commuter and intercity rail is built by the middle of the decade. First legs of the system are expected to be Atlanta to Macon and Atlanta to Athens. The Chamber is also pushing for construction of a multi-modal station in downtown Atlanta. The Georgia Rail Passenger Program was formed by Gov. Roy Barnes and is composed of two representatives each from the Georgia Department of Transportation, the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and the Georgia Rail Passenger Authority. The Chamber is supportive of the Program as a way to get passenger rail service in Georgia.

Southeast High-Speed Rail
In August 2000, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce formed the Southeastern Economic Alliance (SEA), a coalition of fourteen chambers of commerce across six states with the goal of rapid implementation of safe and reliable high-speed passenger rail service across our region to ensure the Southeast is competitive in global economic markets. SEA advocates for federal funding to assist the Southeast build our high-speed rail corridor. The High-Speed Rail Investment Act, (Senate Bill 250 and House Bill 2329) would allow Amtrak to issue $12 billion in bonds for high-speed rail with federal tax credits in lieu of interest payments.
The Southeast corridor faces stiff competition against 10 other high-speed rail corridors for funds, and the mobilization of the business community throughout the region will go a long way toward the Southeast corridor being built.
